Neuro Yoga

Modern and intelligent approach to body and mind. Neuroscience and Neurology based yoga to achieve your physical and mental goals faster and safer.

What is Neuro Yoga?

Neuro Yoga is one of the latest approaches to yoga incorporating the tools of functional neurology.
Functional neurology studies what activities allow us to better utilize our body and mind/intellect potential by stimulating our nervous system in different ways. Putting this knowledge into practice can help us achieve movement goals, better synchronization between brain and body, improve memory, and most importantly it upregulates neuroplasticity of our brain.

Neuroplasticity is the ability of our neurons to form new connections. Creating new neural connections is essential for cognitive health and prevention of nervous system diseases. Physical activity, developing new skills and active thinking are key to increasing brain neuroplasticity, both in children and adults.

Yoga is a discipline that develops the body and mind. With its diversity, it is already a powerful tool in itself for stimulating the brain and other parts of the nervous system for the formation of new neural connections. When we learn new movements and/or sequences of movements, and especially when we have to memorize and reproduce them, we create new connections and expand neural networks.

Neuro Yoga combines the excellent tools of yoga and supplements them with special activities that stimulate specific parts of the brain, for more complete movement development.

Neuro Yoga uses creative sequencing of asanas based on understanding, that novelty is what makes your brain grow new connections.

In Neuro Yoga we practice variety of brain-based techniques including eye exercises, balance challenges, breathing drills, Vestibular System drills and nerve flossing.

Neuro Yoga has numerous applications. It can be a tool for rehabilitation, working with chronic pain, as well as developing and deepening movement skills for long-time yoga students. For the latter, it will be a surprise-filled adventure through unknown maps of the body and support to reach new goals in the yoga practice.
